2020 was one of the most challenging years in recent history and the COVID-19 pandemic created a significantly higher need for community food distribution and resources. The Plaza Companies Property Management team, which normally donates their time to serving at the food banks throughout the year, greatly missed that interaction this year and thought we might be able to gather the resources of our tenants, vendors, and clients to partner with us in supporting Saint Vincent de Paul.
We were so pleased with the response we received from everyone! Our vendors, building owners, tenants, and Plaza team all jumped in with food donations, their time, and financial contributions. So many people we contacted desperately wanted to give back during the holiday season and just didn’t know what they could safely do during the pandemic or where the need was the greatest.
The end result of our efforts was approximately 1,000 pounds of food donations and almost $10,000 in financial donations. Due to their extraordinary efficiency, Saint Vincent de Paul can feed a family of four for $16 per meal, so you can imagine how excited we were to receive this type of support. We are already thinking how much more we can do in 2021 if we just get started a little sooner.
