Plaza Companies partnered with Vi Living to create Vi at Grayhawk, an exceptional and award-winning Continuing Care Retirement Community in the community of Grayhawk in north Scottsdale.
About The Project
When Vi at Grayhawk was first envisioned in the late 1990s, the goal was to create a resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) that not only delivered exceptional quality of care, but also blended seamlessly with the upscale character of the surrounding master-planned Grayhawk community. The goal was to offer older adults a lifestyle rooted in wellness, comfort, and luxury — while addressing long-term health needs through a full continuum of care.
Developed as a joint venture between Plaza Companies and Vi Living, Vi at Grayhawk opened its doors in 1999 and immediately raised the bar for senior living in the Southwest. The thoughtfully designed campus includes 260 independent living residences and a 90-bed health center offering assisted living, memory support and skilled-nursing services. From the beginning, it has embodied the ideal blend of hospitality, healthcare, and architectural elegance, with high-end finishes, beautifully maintained grounds, and amenities more commonly associated with luxury resorts.
The community has maintained 100% occupancy since its opening, with a long-standing waitlist — a testament to its outstanding reputation and high resident satisfaction. Vi at Grayhawk has become a benchmark not just in Arizona, but nationally, for excellence in senior living.
Its reputation is reinforced by numerous accolades. It has been ranked the #1 Independent/Assisted Living Community in Arizona for eight consecutive years and was recognized by U.S. News & World Report in 2010 and 2011 as one of “America’s Best Nursing Homes.” The community was also honored with the City of Scottsdale’s Sterling Award in 2004 and named one of the Best Places to Work in the Valley in both 2006 and 2007.
